The Threefold Law
This law is short and simple. The threefold law states that whatever you do will return to you in threefold, good or bad. If you do good, then good will return to you. If you do bad then, bad will return to you. This is where karma falls into place. Karma is the threefold law in action. It's not a punishment because it's balancing out what you have earned.

Some believe that Karma is also responsible for your next life. Also that Karma is not instant and if you feel that you are having very bad/good luck, it could be karma in action for previous lives. It makes you think about your actions a little more.
